Saving Gas
Had to take my car to the dealership and leave it there, so I decided to walk the 6 miles back home. I’m still a beginner, so I was a bit pleased at my pace. I remembered sunblock this time, and kept hydrated, but the sun was beating down and the temperature was in the 90’s with high humidity. I felt great though!

Cycle 6/02/2008
I biked to the Swimming Hall of Fame today which is 7.2 miles from my Mom’s house. So although it says 14.4 miles, they weren’t consecutive, they were broken up by a 1.5 hour swim, which means my bike back was much slower than my semi-sprint ride there. I forgot to keep track of my time, but I’m estimating I averaged about 14 there and maybe 10 back…
Note for next time: keep track of time, and wear sunblock! Ouch!

Swim 06/02/2008
I got back in the pool today after quite some time, taking a workout written on a scrap of paper I got from online. It was pretty rough at first, but after a few warm ups and drills, I felt great. I forgot how much I love the water. After the workout, I felt strong. Still have to work on my technique, still need to condition, but being back in the swing of things is great :o)

Goals for the next year
This upcoming year will be a challenging one. As I embark on my new life as a doctoral student in a completely different state, I would like to start my new life off right. Thus, I have established several fitness and competitive goals. They are still being formed, so I will refine them after doing more research on the active community in Indiana.
1. Participate in 3 marathons, a full marathon by July of next year.
2. Participate in the Lake Tahoe bike ride with my uncle.
3. Compete in at least 2 triathlon sprints by July.
I’m not sure how “good” these goals are, and perhaps they’ll increase, but I’m setting a base to start from, because you have to start somewhere. I enjoy competing athletically, I enjoy individual sports where your greatest competitor is yourself and your own capabilities and previous achievements. And frankly, I need something outside of work. This past year, my hobby has been work, either academically or my volunteer research or my two jobs. I need something beyond this in order to keep positive, keep focused, and give myself something else to strive for. THis is a goal for me, and thus I can only let myself down, and I refuse to. Hopefully this blog/site will help keep me focused.
Hi, I just joined the Sweat365 community
I’m a 22 year old woman currently in transition from being a Florida girl my whole life to moving to Indiana. I recently set a goal for myself to become a triathlete and compete in order to increase my energy levels, improve my overall health, and find a fun way to relieve stress as I embark on my Ph.D. I swam competitively in high school, and enjoy biking, however have never been a runner, which is the area I am trying to work on most currently. Any tips for beginning runners would be great!
My favorite sports include: running cycling swimming triathlon
My other favorite activities include: Waterpolo, baseball, football.
This is my training blog which I am using to keep track of my fitness progress.
Please come by and read my blog. It will help me stay motivated and keep me on track as I achieve my fitness goals!
